No really, I did! My friend's son turned 10 last weekend and she asked me to make cupcakes based on the "cheese touch" scene from the movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid. At the time I'd only heard of the movie so I was very confused when she said this. Being the awesome baker I am, I went online and looked up videos to find out what the "cheese touch" was. I was totally disgusted by what I found but also excited to get started.
The clip of the scene is below but I'll give you a briefing of what the "cheese touch" is anyway. Basically, there's a moldy cheese on the playground and whoever touches it gets a touch "worse than nuclear cooties". In order to get rid of the "touch" you have to pass it to some unsuspecting victim by touching them. Truely, it reminded me of all the fun cootie-like games I (and I'm sure anyone else who attended public school) played in elementary school. Thankfully, there was no cheese involved at my school... it would have completely altered the way I see cheese for the rest of my life.
The request was for chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing but in the middle of the night while cleaning the kitchen I got an awesome idea... I could make one of the cupcakes contain the "cheese touch"!! I made 30 cupcakes then cored and filled only one with a delicious but disgusting looking cream cheese filling. I then decorated all the cupcakes the same so no one would know which was which. The only difference between any of them was that 15 cuppys had white liners and 15 had black. After I'd decorated all of them even I didn't know which one had the "cheese touch". The only hint I had to offer was that it was one of the one's with a white liner. I was sooooo excited to hear that the boys really liked the cupcakes AND the awesome game I'd "cooked" in.
I wasn't able to go to the party myself but I heard they had a great time! Hopefully, this will give you some ideas for your own Diary of a Wimpy Kid party. Enjoy!!
